Rob GreenleeDanaMonday was a pretty exciting day around the WebTalkGuys studios. After nearly four years and 200 shows, we saw Oct. 21 become our second most streamed day. We streamed 8.4 Gb of audio. Just to give you an example, our typical 1-hour show is a 7 Mb stream.

Adam CurryUpon further research, we found the reason: our Oct. 12 show on Weblogs and Audioblogging, was recommended and linked to from Adam Curry's popular weblog. Yes, Adam is THE founding MTV VJ, fondly remembered by '80's rockers like ourselves. Read Adam's blog here.

Dan RayburnMore super news: this month, Streaming Magazine honored our own StreamingMediaShow host Dan Rayburn by ranking him in 11th position in their list of the “50 Most Influential People in Streaming”, announced at the Streaming Media East 2002 conference.  See Dan in the Streaming Magazine video here. Dan - you rock!

"Creating TV 2.0"
Video on demand from world’s number one source of online news video.
by Dana Greenlee

My world seems to revolve around the Internet. Even though my job and my avocations are so net-centric, it doesn’t mean I don’t stay plugged in to the news of the world: politics, pending war, popular culture and local news coverage are as close as my PC monitor.

About a year ago, I started seeing a video-on-demand (VOD) website start popping up on the WindowsMedia.com website: The FeedRoom.com, a news network on the Internet.

Then I started to seeing the FeedRoom VOD available from the local KCPQ-TV station website Q13.com in Seattle. I found myself regularly spending a compelling hour on this FeedRoom from Q13.

The FeedRoom delivers segmented news of all kinds via high-quality video any time I wanted it.

The FeedRoom’s founder and CEO is Jon Klein, an Emmy Award winning former Executive Vice President of CBS News, overseeing "60 Minutes" and “48 Hours”.

This month, Streaming Magazine gave Klein the 19th position in their list of the "50 Most Influential People in Streaming", announced at the Streaming Media East 2002 conference (see Streaming Magazine video).

I asked Klein to share his view of news on demand on the Internet and its convergence with television.
